Responsibilities

The Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department. With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation, and testing specific to the pathology/histology department.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.

OR

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
  • ASCP (HT) or equivalent
    • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
      • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated
  • Experience as a Histology Technologist
  • Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles
  • 1+ years’ experience with high complexity testing in Pathology

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Certification as a Histotechnologist
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement and regulatory standards
