PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Allivet is seeking an experienced .NET Architect to lead the design and development of robust, scalable, and secure software solutions built on the Microsoft .NET stack. You will own the high-level design and architecture of our core applications and backend services, partnering with cross-functional teams to define architecture standards, guide engineering best practices, and help shape the technical vision for enterprise applications that support rapid growth and development.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Tractor Supply HQ in Brentwood, TN. We are open to candidates willing to relocate to the area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and lead the development of secure, scalable applications using the Microsoft .NET ecosystem (.NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, Web API)
• Define and enforce best practices for software design, coding standards, testing, and performance optimization
• Translate business requirements into well-architected, modular solutions that can scale to meet demand
• Collaborate with DevOps to improve CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and implement infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Guide the evolution of our microservices architecture, ensuring maintainability, reliability, and extensibility
• Evaluate and integrate third-party APIs and SaaS tools relevant to eCommerce, payments, logistics, and personalization
• Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams and participate in code reviews and architecture reviews
• Monitor performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of systems in production, and lead efforts to optimize as needed

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of experience developing enterprise applications with .NET technologies, including at least 3+ years in an architecture or a senior technical leadership role
• Strong experience designing and building APIs, background jobs, and service-oriented/microservices architectures
• Deep familiarity with Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Azure DevOps, Application Insights)
• Working knowledge of eCommerce, payment gateways; subscription based-model and order lifecycle management is a big plus
• Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Python) (required at least one or preferred?)
• Experience in integrating with third-party APIs and building secure, PCI-compliant systems
• Solid foundation in software design patterns, SOLID principles, and modern development practices (TDD, CI/CD, etc.)
• Experience with data modeling and performance tuning in both SQL and NoSQL environments
• Excellent communication and documentation skills—comfortable collaborating across departments
• Experience in a subscription-based or consumer product eCommerce environment is a plus
• Microsoft certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, .NET Developer)
• Experience with headless commerce architecture or MACH principles is preferred
• Experience with retail pharmacy (human or pet) is a plus
