Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their product development team. This individual will play a key role in advancing the design and development of sub-assemblies and components for a variety of mechanical systems.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for mechanical, structural, and plastic component design, ensuring products meet targets for function, durability, cost-efficiency, ease of manufacturing, and performance. Responsibilities will include system and component development, creation of CAD models and drawings, engineering studies, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of mechanical, structural, and plastic sub-assemblies.
Manage system-level designs using industry best practices and design review tools.
Develop and integrate components to meet performance and manufacturing requirements.
Create and release 3D CAD models and fully detailed 2D drawings.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials and release paperwork.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure high-quality product delivery on schedule and within budget.
Perform root cause analysis and propose technical solutions to resolve issues.
Provide technical direction and collaborate with domestic and international resources as needed.
Manage tasks and timelines to meet project milestones.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5–10 years of experience in mechanical, structural, or electromechanical design.
Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as Siemens NX or similar).
Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, including injection molding for plastic components and prototyping methods.
Experience leading product development projects through the full lifecycle.
Strong understanding of translating customer needs into product and design requirements.
Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Ability to manage technical responsibilities and multiple projects independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience designing components or assemblies for manufacturing.
Knowledge of plastic molding and injection molding processes.
Proficiency with FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
Experience integrating components such as electrical or battery systems is a plus.
