Job Description

Summary

Monitors and assures compliance with State and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding prescription dispensing personnel and operations during shift ensuring proper technique and accurate preparation. Provides patient care and counseling on compounded, prescription, and over-the-counter medications.

Responsibilities

Management

• Oversee fulfillment personnel and operations during shift.
• Take part in shipping and handling of all prescription orders when needed.
• Ensuring prescription orders are processed according to the requirements and requests of prescribers and patients.

Compliance

• Ensure proper technique, accurate preparation, accurate documentation, and compliance with applicable laws for all pharmaceutical products dispensed.
• Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Company policies and guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Patient Care

• Provides care by assessing patient demographics, reviewing and maintaining patient medication histories, and reviewing patient medication profiles.
• Develops patient care plans to establish desired outcomes, develops therapeutic care plans, determines alternatives for achieving outcomes, and monitors patient outcomes.
• Educates patients on and monitors drug therapy to evaluate the appropriateness of use, dosage form, regimen route, therapeutic duplication, and drug interactions.

• Effectively communicates with patients, nurses, physicians, and co-workers to ensure the information on all prescriptions is correct.
• Counsel’s patients on over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications as well as nutritional supplements.

Technical Skills

• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and The Compounder (PK software product)
• QS-1 software knowledge is preferred but not required.
• Ability to use standard office equipment including photocopier, fax machine, and telephone.
• Knowledge of 3rd party billing

Schedules/Openings

• Saturday–Sunday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM: 3 openings
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM: 1 opening
• Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM: 2 openings

Educational Requirements

• B.S. or PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required
• Valid Pennsylvania Pharmacy License; licensure in other states as needed and requested
