Compliance Specialist – Senior Affordable Housing

Locations: Miami, FL | Pittsburgh, PA | Chicago, IL

Type: Full-time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with affordable housing programs—including LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and HOME—across a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in affordable housing regulations and a commitment to accuracy and detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve resident applications, move-ins, and annual recertifications
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations
  • Prepare for and support HUD, LIHTC, and other program audits/reviews
  • Maintain accurate tenant files, compliance records, and reporting databases
  • Assist with new property lease-ups and initial compliance processes
  • Provide guidance and support to on-site staff regarding compliance policies and procedures
  • Stay current on regulatory updates and contribute to training initiatives

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of affordable housing compliance experience
  • Strong knowledge of LIHTC, HUD programs, TRACS/EIV, and RealPage (OneSite)
  • Relevant certifications (COS, HCCP, TCS) strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education a plus
