Job Description

Dodd Creative Group is looking for an experienced and versatile Art Director to bring high-level visual execution and design excellence to our fast-paced studio. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role for a creative who thrives on developing original logo designs, signage and wayfinding concepts, and environmental graphics. You’ll work closely with our Creative Directors to deliver strategic, beautiful, and brand-forward creative solutions for multifamily properties.

As Art Director, you’ll remain hands-on—designing daily—while also mentoring junior designers and guiding print and digital projects. You’ll lead by example through sharp creative execution, knowledge sharing, and thoughtful interpretation of Creative Director feedback.

This is a 100% in office position, not remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Execution
  • Translate creative briefs into design deliverables that meet strategic objectives
  • Provide high-quality design work across logo, signage, environmental, print, and digital
  • Logo Design and Visual Identity
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors to develop custom logo and stationery concepts for multifamily brands
  • Create logo packs, usage guides, define fonts and color palettes
  • Create visually stunning brand guides
  • Prepare brand presentations as needed
  • Signage and Environmental Design
  • Design signage concepts including monument, wayfinding, and building signage
  • Design environmental graphics that include murals, window vinyl, banners, locker wraps, development signs, billboards, etc.
  • Understand fabrication and dimensional constraints (materials, visibility, city code compliance, etc.)
  • Create polished presentations mockups and communicate ideas clearly for production team
  • Print and Digital Design
  • Design and/or provide art direction on print and digital projects, including collateral packages, websites, social, and brand videos
  • Proofreading junior team designers’ work
  • Partner with production teams to ensure accuracy when creating production-ready files for environmental graphics and print collateral

  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Mentor junior designers offering best-practices and software tips and tricks
  • Contributes to team learning by sharing expertise through company-wide presentations
  • Help interpret and implement feedback from Creative Directors across projects
  • Stay current with design in branding, signage, and the multifamily space
  • Stays current on emerging creative technologies, including AI-assisted design tools, and explores ways to integrate them into the creative process

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in graphic design or art direction, preferably in agency or branding environment
  • Strong portfolio with an emphasis on logo design and branding
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) on Mac
  • Working knowledge of web design programs (Figma, Webflow, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Ideogram, ChatGPT) and how to apply them in a design workflow
  • Ability to scope own design work accurately and meet deadlines consistently
  • Familiar with managing multiple concurrent design projects in a fast-paced setting
  • Solid understanding of typography, layout, and color theory
  • Skilled at preparing clean, accurate, print-ready production files
  • Ability to communicate ideas through sketches and thumbnails
  • Organized, efficient, and deadline-driven with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Comfortable writing or refining copy for brand identities, taglines, signage, and presentations

· Capable of managing up (communicating challenges, solutions, timelines to leadership)

· Comfortable giving design rationale and defending creative decisions when appropriate

· Open to constructive feedback and committed to elevating the team’s work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Signage and/or environmental design experience
  • Comfortable working with architectural drawings and elevations
  • Experience with signage fabrication, dimensional lettering, and lighting specs
  • Prior experience with real estate, multifamily housing, or commercial developments
  • Experience with video editing and motion design (After Effects, Premier Pro)

Salary $75,000 annually

This is a 100% in office position, not remote.
